Oscar Ncube, the breakthrough fashion designer behind the 2019 SA Fashion Week show-stopper, Drybone Co., is back in action with his new label, Chiefs Of Angels. Using the iconic leather jacket as a central departure point in all its collections, this directional and rock-and-roll-inspired fashion lifestyle label is heavily influenced by sustainable fashion principles, which see it making most of its leather and other products from deconstructing and redesigning second-hand, vintage, and dead-stock garments. This “rebirth of apparel” is set to turn heads this autumn/winter.

Head-to-toe colour blocking is the way to go this winter! Bold solid colours and neons dominated the runways in preparation for the upcoming change of season. Leather and faux fur had heads turning in Paris earlier this year, with head-to-toe leather looks seen at Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton and Versace, to name a few. Faux furs, as seen at Michael Kors, Stella McCartney and Moschino, will see you through the winter period. Colour is everything, so feel free to layer bold colours.

You may have thought you’d seen the last of ponchos back in the early 2000s, but this style is back and here to stay! Far from the bulky and knobbly ponchos of the past, the silhouette for 2020 is sleek and understated, featuring smooth ribbed knits and long bat wings.

Bold looks for men and women are in this winter, with bold silhouettes and colours popping up as far as the eye can see. Sharp tailoring prevailed over more understated looks, emphasising this season’s underlying theme of confidence and power. Suits, blazers and jackets this year are larger than life, so stay on trend with oversized tailoring, dramatic shoulder details and multiple layers.
Do bold prints and patterns ever go out of style? This season we’re seeing everything from bold floral motifs to checks and textured fabrics. Houndstooth is making a comeback, as are brightly printed shirts and blouses. Keep things light and layered, mixing patterns and solid colours is encouraged!
