Vilebrequin introduces new stock for summer 2015/2016

Created in St-Tropez in 1971, Vilebrequin has established itself over the past 44 years as the purveyor of top quality swimwear for men and women, worn internationally by the likes of royalty, actors and sportsmen. This November, the brand introduces some exciting new prints to suit all manner of tastes, including (in order of appearance below) the V-Birds, Fish Foot (reminiscent of a hounds tooth print design), The Toucan, The Beach, Sunrise and Lobster Flowers. For the festive at heart, there are also the Christmas Caribou swim trunks for men.

The iconic Moorea* standard length swim trunks (from R1950 to R2750 per pair) are a must-have beach or poolside item. New editions to the summer range are a shorter, Merise flat front swim trunk (from R3250) as well as an elasticated, drawstring Mahina swim trunk (from R2750) that can be folded into its back pocket and made from a woven fabric called ‘sushi’.Vilebrequin_November 2015-1

The first Vilebrequin swim trunks were born from the imagination of Fred Prysquel, a journalist and classic car enthusiast, who fashioned stylish swimwear from spinnaker canvas. Quick-drying and durable, Vilebrequin swim trunks – bursting with bright colours and whimsical prints – soon became the essence of a carefree lifestyle relished by those holidaying along the Mediterranean in the early 70s such as Brigitte Bardot, Alain Delon, Roger Vadim and many more.

Today, Vilebrequin is the quintessential resort wear brand catering for men, women and children; as well as boasting an extensive range of beach accessories including canvas bags, towels and caps.

This November, Vilebrequin opened its second standalone store in Johannesburg in the prestigious Nelson Mandela Square. “Our V&A Waterfront and Melrose Arch stores have for the past four and two years respectively gone a long way in locally showcasing what the internationally acclaimed brand has to offer,” says Nicole Temple, South African Vilebrequin franchisee. “With the addition of the Nelson Mandela Square store, Vilebrequin is now able to further cater to the demand for its luxury swimwear.”

“One of the key elements that defines Vilebrequin is the brand’s capacity to innovate,” adds Temple. “It is a brand that is not afraid to introduce bold designs, new shapes and fabrics, and is always pushing the boundaries with fresh artist collaborations; all whilst still maintaining an air of elegance.”

Vilebrequin also sports a Like Father Like Son collection comprising of matching swim trunks available in boys’ sizes from two to 14 year olds, and ranging in price from R1450 to R1650 each; the perfect way to spoil all the men in your life this Christmas, however little girls and their mommies are being spotted following suit, no pun intended!

In addition to the new Nelson Mandela Square store in Johannesburg, Vilebrequin stores are located in the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, Melrose Arch in Johannesburg and on Thesen Islands in Knysna.

The Vilebrequin brand can also be purchased at luxury five star hotels and resorts across South Africa, including The Oyster Box in Umhlanga Rocks, La Residence in Franschhoek, Birkenhead House in Hermanus, and the Four Seasons Hotel in Westcliff, Johannesburg.
