From customised furniture built with purpose, to a brand that stands for style with purpose, Tiger of Sweden is a Stockholm-based fashion house established in 1903 and located on Melrose Boulevard. With a rich heritage focused on minimal and classic Swedish tailoring and casualwear, the Melrose Arch store has a core focus on menswear, with a selection of womenswear available as well. Striving to positively influence industry change and facilitate the mindful consumption of consciously designed garments, Tiger of Sweden’s mission is to create responsible garments designed to last, with design rooted in quality craftsmanship, and collections living beyond seasonal trends.
The Tiger of Sweden Pre-Spring 2024 collection underpins an appreciation of humble elegance – celebrating the escapism of dressing up with an undeniable air of Scandinavian minimalism. The collection pays homage to traditional brand codes whilst offering refreshing twists on timeless, wearable wardrobe staples with a nod to the allure of the 1940s film noir era. Anchored by tailoring principles, there is an emphasis on classic profiles steeped in quality craftsmanship. Sculptural silhouettes are perfectly offset with luxe textures, and the current sale runs up until mid-August with promotions of up to 50% off key items.

And speaking of journeys, after 48 wonderful years in La Rochelle, José and Gloria from Restaurante Parreirinha are celebrating 49 years at their new location on Melrose Arch’s Square, where they opened last year. Moving to South Africa in 1960, for their family to pursue a path in construction, José and Gloria grew up in the restaurant, and they would spend their afternoons after school in the family business that started with only 12 knives and forks. Restaurante Parreirinha, meaning “little grapevine,” is testament to the work that José and Gloria have put in to build a legacy, and boasts the same menu today that they had in 1975.
Built on three generations of family, storytelling, experiences and memories, Restaurante Parreirinha has never just been a restaurant, but rather a home away from home where staff have become more like family, and where strangers meet and leave as lifelong friends. Melrose Arch has always been fuelled by the palpable energy of the people, including the wonderful tenants, such as José and Gloria, who make experiencing the precinct more personable and memorable.

From people that make an impact to pieces that leave a lasting impression; located on the High Street, which has been pedestrianised to enhance connectivity, accessibility, safety and security, The Melrose Gallery is a leading Pan-African Contemporary space, representing established and emerging artists whose voices speak to issues of significance to the Continent of Africa on a global basis.
Running a curated programme of exhibitions, participating in respected art fairs, supporting a number of artists in their participation at Biennales and conceptualising and implementing significant non-commercial exhibitions in association with leading museums, The Melrose Gallery is currently hosting two exciting exhibitions.
“The Agitation to Regain…To Regain, The Regeneration of Africa” curated by Artist, Curator and Social Activist Ruzy Rusike, and “30 Years of Wishful Thinking” curated by a Research Associate and Curator Sipho Mdanda, which will both run until 25 August 2024. Offering a profound exploration of democracy, cultural identity and artistic resilience, the exhibitions will dialogue with each other through various panel discussions and performances. Inspired by a conversation between Achille Mbembe and Bayo Akomolafe, and borrowing from the Igbo people’s aesthetic of meeting the other to trace patterns of convergence and divergence, this dialogue between Rusike and Mdanda embodies that spirit.

No matter your pastimes, preference, palate or personality, with so much to experience at this sophisticated crossroads for the cosmopolitan, there is something for everyone to enjoy and indulge in at Melrose Arch.
