Melrose Arch is pleased to be the new home of Tiki Tonga, the second such coffee outlet to open in South Africa.
Tiki Tonga started in the UK by Brad Barritt, an ex-Durbanite and now London-based captain of Saracens rugby club, and was brought to South Africa in partnership with Tiki Tonga UK and local partners represented by Dean Grove. (A hugely popular coffee brand in the UK, Tiki Tonga was recently appointed the official coffee supplier at Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium in north London.) The logo, a turtle, symbolises Tonga, one of Barritt’s favourite rugby tour destinations.
“When we looked at growing the brand and opening a shop in Johannesburg, Melrose Arch was the obvious choice for us,” explains Grove. “There are a number of high-end coffee shops in the precinct and we knew that if we made it in Melrose Arch, we could make it anywhere.
“We are not afraid of competition. It’s a good thing, ensuring high standards are maintained, and Tiki Tonga complements the offerings in the precinct.
“We pride ourselves on the quality of our coffee and the service and vibe we provide. We have sourced the finest beans from the across the globe to craft our refined blends. We offer flavours that will elevate the senses and pack a winning punch!”
Grove explains that Tiki Tonga is positioned as a sports coffee brand, with coffee being a firm favourite drink of sportsmen due to its ability to give energy. Tiki Tonga offers four different blends, with two being classified as sociable blends (Number 9 and Number 12) and two as sports blends (Number 2 and Number 8). Coffee is completely natural, has no additives and is free from the preservatives and sugary content of most sports or energy drinks.
Jewish customers will be delighted to hear that Tiki Tonga at Melrose Arch will be offering certain kosher meals (bagels) and kosher milk.
